A Hobby of Mine (Day 20)

Another hard one! What gives?! All right, it's really hard to have a hobby when you work a full time job and somehow manage to squeeze in time to write novels, too. Because in writing novels comes not only the typing part but the research and the plotting and the...

Well, you get the idea.

But if I could pick one thing I do that I don't actually have to do (and oftentimes don't have time to do), well, I guess I'd have to say watching movies. I... looooove a good movie. Stellar acting, dialogue, plot... I just soak it up like a patch of mid-morning Spring sun. And it's great for Le Muse, too, as she gets a decent picture--literally--of Goal, Motivation, Conflict, which is a staple for any adequate story. At least in my opinion.

As far as what movies I like? Everything! Comedies, dramas, action, independent. Really, there's something to love in all genres of film. Some of my favorites, however are:

Star Wars
And, yes, all episodes including but not limited to the latter films.
The Lord of the Rings Trilogy
Gone with the Wind
The Thornbirds
North & South
The Man from Snowy River

And these are just a few off the top of my head. Most have been with me since I was a little girl, or at least played some big part in my growth process--whether personal or writing, and usually those coexist so tightly, I can't tell one from the other.

So, tell me: What are some of YOUR favorite films? Ones that have stayed with you for the long-haul, a movie you'll never forget, a story that crosses your mind from time to time for no apparent reason, a film from which you quote lines all the time. Is is it something you saw recently? A movie from your childhood?

Peace, Love, and Junior Mints,

There are two movies that I would say had a significant impact on my life: Star Wars: A New Hope and Dead Poets' Society.
