D is for...

Dedication.  The first form of dedication that comes to mind is to one's family.  They're the only one you've got, right?  So ... grudges? Not worth it. Harsh words? Swallow 'em. Family is forever, so better take care of each other, keep close, and always, always have one another's backs.

Secondly, I can't help but think of dedication to yourself and your dreams.  Everyone should have a dream.  Whether it's to become a successful writer, a stay-at-home mom or dad, a lawyer, or to own your own business, dreams are what keep us going, keep us climbing that ladder of success, striving for goal after goal.

My dream?  Yep.  To write.  Not only that, but to write for a living.  Do I want to be rich?  Not really, though I'd be lying if I said it hasn't crossed my mind.  Financial security is the hope of everyone on the planet, I'll be willing to wager.  For me, I just want to be able to pay my bills, make my contribution to my family, and to accomplish both by doing something I love.

So, how am I going to feasibly achieve that dream?  Dedication.  Never giving up.  To keep trucking on, writing story after story, making submission after submission, until it hits.  Because it will at the right time.  I have enough confidence to be certain of that.

How do you use dedication in your everyday life?

My family motivates me to be dedicated. So I want to do my best for them and make them proud of Daddy! And I like Harry Potter too.

Dedication is key! If you want something enough, you can only make it happen if you don't give up! :D

Dedication is absolutely the key. It took me 1.5 years to turn my dream of being paid to write into a reality and what made it happen was dedication. Hang in there. If you want it badly enough, you will make it happen. :)

My dedication is to my Autistic son. He is my life, my muse, and my heart. I will never give up on him, not even for a second! I love your post on Dedication - awesome stuff!

My wife says she's always impressed by my dedication to things. I don't really think about it that way, though. I mean, I know that it is, but I just decide I'm going to do something and go about doing it.

My dedication is to my son, who has autism. I'm doing the A to Z challenge and my theme this month is autism - in conjunction with the fact that April is also Autism Awareness Month. I do what I can to try to make life easier for him down the road.
Great post! Hope your dream comes true some day :)
Cheers,
Jen

Great post. Right now I'm dedicated to my writing - it's like having two full-time jobs! But, if I want to succeed, I have to keep at it.
