E is for...

Emilio Estevez. Go ahead. You can say it. Will Ferrell, Night at the Roxbury. Emiliooooo! Emiliooooo! Crazy as it seems to use this New York native actor as a subject of the A-Z challenge, he was the first who came to mind when I thought, "E."  Why?  Because, when I was a little girl, I really and truly thought I would marry him someday.

Seriously.

No, I'm not kidding.

Right around 1990, when I was twelve and Young Guns II came out, I fell in love with Mr. Estevez.  Forget that he's sixteen years my senior.  I had pictures of him pinned to my walls, every movie of his I could get my hands on (all of which I watched several times a week), and even a fake driver's license (made by yours truly) featuring my full married name.

So crazy about him was I that when he married Paula Abdul in 1992, I cried into my pillow.  How could he do this to me? Imagine how much longer it's going to take for us to get together, if ever now, thank you SO very much Miss freaking stupid Abdul! *sniff sniff*

Obviously, I got over it, though the memory still makes me laugh and I still very much enjoy Emilio Estevez flicks.

Now, I've moved on to a cougar crush on Bruno Mars.

Just something about a guy who can sing and do-wop!

Who was your childhood crush?

I was in love with Patrick Swayze when I was a kid. I watched Dirty Dancing, and decided he was the man for me!

My childhood crush was on John Taylor of Duran Duran.

@Kyra Dirty Dancing is one of my all time favorite movies. I'll put it in on the weekends while I'm cleaning. :)

@Tina I'm a Duranie, too! Simon LeBon was my favorite. My mom and I used to watch their video collection and the MTV Unplugged concert they made in the 90's, like, constantly. Still a wonderful memory between me and her. :)

I see why you dreamed about marrying him. He's a pretty handsome dude!

I'm doing the A to Z Challenge also, and came over from Karen Gowen's to meet you. Your blog really invites me to stay for a while. I love your header picture. It's stunning! And Small World, Big Dreams is a compelling title. Go after those dreams. It's perseverance that will make them come true!

Oh, I think anyone from Duran Duran would do. I think he's a perfect E. When I saw the Young Guns pix, I thought, "Wow. That's right Lou Diamond used to do movies." Now, he seems to be on every celebrity reality show.

Okay, I cannot comment it girlie... I was in the movie "Lucus" with Charlie Sheen... does that count. Okay I was thrown of the set for rude behavior, that is another story.

Excellent! ... to the challenge "E" is for Efficient!

I think everyone from that era was a little hot for Emilio! I am trying to recall who was my hunk d'jour, but I was heavy into rock bands like Journey, Foreigner, etc. at that time. Who starred in Footloose, the original? I was hot for him for a while. There were good African American male actors at that time, but they weren't like, sexy, you know? The singers, though. I have forever been in love with the DeBarge men.

Ooooh, I forgot about him. I heard of Emilio Estevez when I was a teenager...I think, but I never really put the name to the face. Cute actor! I can understand why he would be popular among the ladies.

My childhood crush changed through the years but if there was one, consistent crush, it was...and still is, Bruce Willis. That man is the bomb! In fact, while "Live Free or Die Hart" was playing on a television recently, I said to a guy sitting nearby..."Hey, did you see my boyfriend?" while pointing to the TV screen.

My friends think I have bad taste because they only see him and a middle-aged bald dude but he has always been my numero uno honey! oh yes!!!! :)

LOL... I had planned to post a comment to the most recent A-Z entry here on your blog, but I saw Emilio and had to check it out!

I adored him. He was so cute.

Did you see he wrote, directed, and acted in a movie called "The Way"? You can learn more here: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1441912/

I watched an interview with his father (who starred in it), and he said it was such a wonderful experience to work with his son. :)
