A is for...

Attitude. Simple as it sounds, attitude is one of the most important things we possess as human beings trying to make it in this world. And when you get down to the nitty-gritty, one can either choose to be on the upside of the attitude spectrum or, naturally, the downside.

That's right. It's a choice.

I had a great post ready for this, but somehow through Blogger changing its look, it got erased. Go figure. But here's what I have to say about attitude:  When you're a writer submitting manuscripts for potential publication and those nasty replies come back, most in some sort of form letter, that say something to the tune of, "Thank you for sending your recent proposal, but..." Well. It's really hard to keep a positive attitude. To actually want to keep going, keep writing more stories.

Why do I use the writing aspect? Because that's what tests my attitude the most. Here's what I tell myself, no matter the case, in order to check the big-A and keep it rising up instead of sliding down: "It's not all about you, and just remember, something good comes out of everything."

Obviously, I may not know what that is at the time, but it's there. My job is to accept the life lesson and, in turn, move forward.

How do you accentuate the positive & eliminate the negative?

I do it by singing along like you do too ;)
Truthfully, I think attitude - for me - is about having a positive mental attitude and planning ahead.

I like your post today for our first A-Z. Attitude is indeed important and I think too often we don't check ours:) One way to have a postivie attude is to remove the things that bring about a bad one (like all day news).

I just read another post on Attitude, and I love that word! Attitude really is everything, and a positive attitude opens doors and opportunity while a negative one makes everything shrink. Great post!

Love your post on Attitude so many people have a bad one but not many have a positive and I guess in today's stressful world it's hard. Accentuate the positive by keeping going, you never know what's around the corner. Eliminate the negative by dealing with things that can be dealt with, dwelling won't solve anything!

I don't have anything against negative attitudes. They can keep you going, too. I mean, the competitive attitude, the fighting attitude, is generally seen as negative, but I think the determination that comes from it is better at keeping people striving to succeed than the "positive" attitude.

I find my attitude shifts a bit depending. When small amounts of stress arise, I get very sarcastic. When a big project needs to be done, I become incredibly driven.

Great post - new follower!

Attitude is so important. I write about this kind of thing all the time. It takes effort to remain conscious about my thoughts and change them if they become too negative. Thanks for this.

P.S. YOu might want to remove word verification - some folks in the challenge might not come if you have it on.

I'm allowed a short wallow, then I have to stand up and move on.

Amen, Sarah. I personally wallow in Junior Mints and/or Rocky Road ice cream. ;)

Attitude is a choice!

When I receive a rejection, I simply remember all the great writers who were also ignored. It always helps.

Candy does as well. Oh, and donuts and steaks on a grill, and....
